Impulse Responses for the Dry Version of the Zwolle Schnitger Organ Model

This is a collection of artificially created impulses suitable for the addition of convolution reverb to the model of the church organ called Zwolle Dry Sample Set by Sonus Paradisi (http:\\www.sonusparadisi.cz).

The Zwolle church organ has 5 divisions: 4 manuals and Pedal. Therefore, a set of impulse responses was created for each division separately, as each division occupies different location in the church what results in slightly different reverberation parameters.

Three sets of impulses were created, each in its folder named:

  • AB ... impulses modelling the AB stereo position of a pair of omni microphones. 14 IR's available.
  • ORTF front ... impulses modelling the ORTF stereo position of a pair of cardioid microphones, heading towards the sound source (suitable for modelling the front channels of a surround setting). 14 IR's available.
  • ORTF rear ... impulses modelling the ORTF stereo position of a pair of cardioid microphones heading away from the sound source (suitable for modelling the rear channels of a surround setting). 14 IR's available.
  • Alltogether, it is a set of 42 IR's.

The meaning of different names of the impulse responses wave forms can be explained as follows:

  • Zwl ... stays for "Zwolle", common for all the impulses

then follows a particle describing the organ division for which the impulse response was designed

  • BP ... Bovenpositiv
  • BW ... Borstwerk
  • HW ... Hoofdwerk
  • PE ... Pedal
  • RW ... Rugwerk

then a letter describing the channel follows:

  • C ... center
  • L ... left
  • R ... right

after this a descripition of the stereo technique follows which is the same as the folder naming.

The impulses are offered in 48kHz/32bit resolution. However, the demo version of the impulses was downsampled to 44.1kHz/16bits. Also, the reverb tail of the demo version impulses was truncated after 3 seconds. The full length impulses are 6-9 seconds long, decaying naturaly to the very silence.
